Garage Door Inspection
A safe garage door adds safety to your home hence it's very important to perform routine checks on your garage door. We at Austin Garage Door Specialists pride ourselves in providing accurate inspection reports for garage door opener inspection, spring inspection & cable inspection to our clients. We then offer advice based on the findings observed. Routine inspection helps one become familiar with the door hence ease of knowing which parts are worn out and need replacement. This familiarization also helps one know the meaning of the different noises made by the garage door.
Garage door inspection service in Austin is carried out in three stages as shown below:
A) Visual inspection is the first step in determining how safe your garage is. We close the door while inside the garage and observe all the parts of the door from the inside. Observe the door as it moves up and down the track.
The extension springs and joints are also checked to look at their functionality. Safety cables and the springs should be checked to ensure they are safely secured and are in proper working order. Any wiring around the garage door will be checked to ensure it was professionally installed. The mounting hardware is susceptible to rust hence we look to see whether it is rusted in any way and to check if it is mounted securely too. Door panels are also part of the garage door, these are checked to see if there are any cracks on them, loose pieces or damages. Check that the garage door is well buckled too to avoid any accidents.
B) A door balance test is also carried out. This is done by manually lifting the door to see if it balances properly. The door should stay open without necessarily sliding back down. If it slides down, re-balancing is needed. If the door has a manual opener, this should be tested if it is working well.
C) Lastly, the automatic reversing mechanisms need to be checked. With the door open, an object is placed directly below the door and the closing mechanism activated. The door should reverse automatically when it comes into contact with the obstructing object. If it doesn't, then the reversing mechanism needs to be checked and repaired. This includes checking the photo eyes of doors that have these installed, the sensors installed on the door, the rubber seal at the bottom of the door and other parts.
